There's still time to book that office shindig which will provide months of good laughs around the water cooler in 2012...or maybe a Christmas Day meal with friends or family? Here are 10 good options...
-
Festive frolics at the Bali Brasserie – why not go Indonesian/Mali?
1. Graze in the Western Road, a superior dining establishment... owner Kate Alleston, has planned three special Christmas Party menus – the three-course Bronze for £25 a head; the three-course Silver at £32 a head and a seven course tasting menu - the Gold at £45 a head.
2. Orsino's, A favourite, fun Italian restaurant in Church Road – like most of our choices its Christmas meal menu starts from December 1 – price is £21.95 per head, plus 10% service charge.
3. Archipelagos in Western Road – this highly-popular Greek restaurant is offering a special Christmas meal of 12 small dishes to be shared between four people – humus, taramasalata, all the Greek goodies for £16.95 per head. Not all dates are available for a large group, they told me, so best not to hold back and 'think about it'.
4. Bali Brasserie Indonesian/Malay in Kingsway Court, Queens Gardens. A large venue hidden away under a modern block of flats, inside you could be in a plush eatery in Saigon, Hong Kong or Singapore. There's plenty of space for the largest office Christmas do, and live music provided. £17.95 per head for four courses.
5. Woodies Longboard Diner. They don't actually have a Christmas Menu but tell me that their particular take on a 50s American menu is popular for Yule bashes – burgers, steaks, brownies, milk shakes, sundaes – it's the smalltown US Drug Store experience and excellent for parties at around £15.00 a head.
6. L'Eglise on Church Road will give you a festive feast with plenty of Gallic flair and charm. The Christmas Menu is in play for all of December and offers three delicious looking courses for £24.95. On Christmas Day there's a special 6-course Menu - plus mince pies - at £70 per person
7. Marroccos on the seafront, a place to gather, it could be wild outside weather-wise but it's cosy in there – good for parties of up to 12-15 – Christmas Feast offers a choice of dishes for £12.00 for two courses; three course for £16.00; four course for £20. They also have a special three-course Chritmas Eve Menu at £32.00 per person.
8. The Hove Kitchen: new and very popular watering and eating hole on the Western Road – nice relaxed ambience here under the guidance of Hovepeople poster boy Ben – has a Christmas menu until December 23rd, with festive parties in mind. £23.30 for three courses.
9. Slug and Lettuce in George Street have seated parties of up to 58 people in the past - it's casual, it's fun and it's lively – they offer a selection of buffet menus to choose from and a special six course Christmas menus for £34.95
10. Tin Drum in Victoria Grove have their own small farm just outside Hailsham and are growing their own veg and raising pigs, so you know a meal here is going to be thoughtfully cooked. Their Christmas offering comes in at £21.50 for two courses, and £25.50 for three courses including coffee and mince pies. Parties of up to 42 people can be seated.
Comments
Yes indeed – it is very popular – one of our reviews reads thus: "Great pub, great food, great wine list, great live music, great staff. Real Hove local friendly. Resident artists work for sale, see walls. Very Hove. Highly recommend you go and try for yourself.."
