Caroline Lucas, Green MP for Brighton, has called on the government to include Brighton in its super-connected cities plan saying that the city is home to one of the biggest and most successful digital sectors in the UK.

"It's already growing three times faster than the national average and is delivering the majority of new local jobs," she said.

As such, Ms Lucas said the city must be allowed to bid for some of the £100 million set aside by the coalition for ultra-fast broadband investment in major urban centres.

Ms Lucas said that if Brighton and Hove is to stay competitive and be a major digital player in the long term, the conurbation must be allowed to bid for public funding.

"The city has the biggest cluster of digital business per head of population in the UK and a widely recognised digital alliance with Bristol and Manchester," the MP added.

"So becoming a super-connected city is crucial to keep us at the forefront of the technology revolution."

Totally agree! ........................I might finally be able to relocate my work from London to Brighton - almost impossible at present due to dire broadband speed.
