Classical Lighting – it's getting stranger

Anyone passing by Classical Lighting this morning will see a perplexing sign. The lighting shop on Western Road, which seems to have been having a closing down sale since the late Middle Ages, has just announced 'Sale Starts 27th December'.

That's quite a long time to wait, especially as there is a sale on anyway, but this is no ordinary store. The shop has been shut for several weeks now and every time I go past it seems to have a new notice stuck to the window announcing the latest details of a dispute between the tenants and the owner. Sometimes the notices disappear for a day or two, somethimes there are signs saying 'Will be re-opening on Monday'  or 'Definitely opening on Friday' which come and go.

It's all very odd – and now this winter sale is announced. Anybody know what's happening here?

UPDATE on the strange doings at Classical Lighting – they're open again. (Thursday morning 14th). Quite what's happening, and what the Christmas Sale sign was all about, is still rather unclear. But the sale continues, and it may be the time to pick up a bargain...
