Elvis has left the court building – next step the jailhouse. On Friday fancy dress bookmakers bandit Martin Reilly, who dressed up as Elvis for one raid, admitted a series of gunpoint robberies.

Reilly, 53, threatened staff at bookmakers in Brighton, Hove and Eastbourne with an imitation firearm, and his bizarre disguis in a Brighton raid won him a place in our Best Faces of 2011 photo gallery.

On July 7 last year he walked into Ladbrokes in Dyke Road, and pointed a gun at staff. He was sporting stick-on sideburns, aviator-style, gold-rimmed sunglasses and a brown Elvis-style wig.

In a series of hold-ups last summer Reilly is believed to have pocketed as much as £20,000, disguising himself with a fisherman's hat, white hockey mask, workman's clothes and hockey mask in other raids, Lewes court was told.

Judge Anthony Scott-Gall adjourned sentencing for psychiatric reports but said jail was inevitable. Reilly, who is bald in real life, has been remanded in custody to be sentenced at the same court on April 2.
