Murder of Gary Hampson – another man charged

Sussex Police report a man has been charged with perverting the course of justice in relation to the murder of Gary Hampson.

Detectives launched a murder investigation, following the discovery of Gary Hampson's blood at the garage he managed in Little Western Street
48-year-old Alan Topping, who was produced from HMP Lewes where he is serving a sentence for unrelated matters, was charged last Thursday and will appear at Brighton Magistrates Court next Friday 17 February.
Gary Hampson was reported missing in January last year after he failed to contact his 10-year-old daughter, despite being in regular contact with her. Detectives launched a murder investigation, following the discovery of Gary's blood at the garage he managed in Little Western Street, Hove. His body has still not been found.
DI Phil Mays of the Major Crime Team said: "This has been a long and complex investigation. We are determined to unravel the full circumstances of Gary's murder and this latest charge sends a clear message that we will leave no stone unturned.
"If you know something about the death, but are still holding back, please do call us on 101 or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. And, if you have been attempting to frustrate our efforts to bring Gary's family closure, be warned that we have now charged four people on suspicion of perverting the course of justice".
A total of four people have now been charged as part of the investigation. Daniel Alexander, 61, of no fixed address, has been charged with his murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Roy Bartup, 57, of Natal Road, Brighton, and 67-year-old Linda Rosenberg of Montpellier Road, Brighton have been charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice. These three remain in custody awaiting trial.
