Thinking about a Diamond Jubilee street party?

It doesn't seem long since we had a knees up to celebrate Will and Kate's wedding, and here comes another chance to get together and party – the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Are you thinking of a street party? The one we went to last April in Osborne Villas was fantastic – but it looked like it needed more than a bit of organising. So it's not too early to think about something for your street. The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Holiday will be on Tuesday June 5th.

The first step is to complete the form you'll find here on the Council's website and and return it before 20th April 2012.

The City Council welcomes Street Parties, and makes the following points:-

It is important that everyone in the proposed road is asked for their opinion. This includes all residents and all businesses. A signed petition must be produced to the council when requesting a road closure showing that the majority of people in the street support the closure.

In order to coordinate road closures across the city, we need to have all the applications in before we can let you know about each individual request.

We will confirm we have received your application and then respond again after the closing date when we have assessed all applications.

Please contact us if you want to talk through anything or would like further advice.  You can contact the Traffic and Events team at highwayevents@brighton-hove.gov.uk  or on (01273) 293366.
