The Chief Constable taking live questions from the public, police officers in the station doing their job, police officers in the streets... this is your chace to watch it live.

Sussex Police People is available to anyone's computer and there are currently four channels streaming out news, live, as it happens.

The public are interacting directly with 10 officers and staff across Sussex via video links from police stations, the Force helicopter, police cars and with them on the streets.

It looks as if it's a success. Since going live from 8am this morning until 4pm, there have been more than 46,401 people viewing with the streams watched for more than 1,500 hours.

Viewers have posted more than 1,500 comments and questions via live chat to those officers and staff taking part in live video interviews.

Sussex Police say the live website is an ongoing commitment by the force to provide an up-close and personal view of policing directly from those doing the job, and to promote new ways for people to keep in touch with the Force.

"For example normally 20 people will attend a street meeting, meetings we hold across Sussex, but today when PCSO Andy Packham held a street meeting in Hove, 900 people on line were able to watch and 50 had a chance to ask questions.

"Today, in the first event of its kind, the public have been able to tour the Sussex Police helicopter, view the Specialist Search Team preparing and conducting a dive at Shoreham harbour, see a scenes of crime officer forensically examine a car.

"They have also had a behind the scenes view of policing at Crawley police station - including the cells - with officers and staff being interviewed about their roles. There was the street meeting in Hove and cycle safety event near Brighton pier."

UPDATE: Sussex Police announced that over 62,000 people viewed the

streams, watching for more than 1,900 hours.

Viewers posted more than 2,500 comments and questions

via live chat to those officers and staff taking part in live video

interviews.
