Commuter Rage Dept. Nigel Summerley started a diary in February recording how late or early his train arrived in Brighton every time he used the First Capital Connect service.
He calculated that his hone trip, the 6.57pm London Bridge to Brighton service, arrived at its final destination an average of 6.7 minutes late.
Only once in the 52 journeys he recorded did it arrive early – by one minute.
First Capital Connect said Brighton Main Line is "one of the most congested railways in the country" and said the £6 billion Thameslink programme will help to reduce delays.
Mr Summerley said he started recording the times himself after FCC said it did not have information on when the trains had run on time.
He said: "This was for the summer months and it is much worse in the winter. It also does not take into account that the trains are pretty grubby and invariably overcrowded.
"And why do I and other passengers make a fuss about the lateness of this train by an average of about seven minutes every night?
"Because for me and many others, we have onward journeys from Brighton station by bus or local train that we continually miss, thus making our commuting day even longer than it needs to be, and disrupting the lives of both us and our families."
I think Mr Summerley has a point. A dirty great big one, in fact!
