Someone is going to killed – I'm 100% sure that the new crossing lights will be the death of somebody pretty soon. The old crossing lights had the green/red man directly visible from the other side at about 10 foot high. We are used to looking up and seeing the green/red man clearly.
Now, the new lights are at shoulder height and facing into the pavement, not outward, so they can't be seen from the other side. There are no lights set at a height as there used to be, where people are used to looking. Unless you look to your side, and at shoulder height, you don't know what's happening. Worse, you sometimes see a green light from one of the traffic lights, and cross over just at he worst possible time, as the green light is signalling for the traffic to shoot through the crossing.
I'm guessing that the Council aren't fitting these lights properly and one of the two signals on each pillar should point directly across the road, so it can be seen by those on the other side.
As it is, it's dangerous and will soon cause a terrible accident.
