Hove's Advent Beach Huts in the TV spotlight

Despite a rotten start, weather-wise, the Beach Hut Advent Calendar event is going great guns, and tonight's hut is number 84, which is at the Brighton end. Starting 5.30pm and going on for an hour, the proceedings could well get you into the Christmas spirit, if you're not in that happy state already.

A good turn out last night for the opening of Hut 79a

Madonna and Child in chocolate – the prize for this year's best attender

An angelic young man handed out cake and showered the crowd with glitter
Last night's featured Beach Hut was 79a and a sumptuous Madonna and child cake was the focus of the evening – beautifuly carved in chocolate by the good folk of choccywoccydoodah, who had a TV crew in tow, busily filming the event for a forthcoming documentary on the Good Food Channel.
All details of the event, which continues until 24th December, are here. There is free mulled wine and mince pies, and an ongoing attendance competition with last night's Madonna and Child cake as the prize. Just one thing – wrap up VERY well. It's perishing out there.
